History

Since its establishment in 2001, the Student Council has always been a vital organization representing the student body in discussing with the school issues that matter to you and striving for your welfare.

The Student Council has always been in close contact to the school so that almost everything which concerns you, from school policies to student welfare, from defects in campus facilities to curtain malfunction in your very classroom, can reach the school as soon as possible. To learn more from you, questionaires are issued and the democratic board was set up. Your classroom is inspected from time to time lest any rooms for improvements are not reported to related school departments. Forums which allow open discussions between the school and students are held. The Council also serves as a Student Representative in the consultative meetings of the School Committee.

Enriching your school life is also one of the prime functions of the Council. In this respect, the Student Council organizes a variety of activities ranging from Football Competition, tutorial classes, parties and shows which help bring harmony to schoolmates of different forms and allow you to expand your social circle.

As an organization bearing such an important responsibility as to represent all students, the Student Council must have its Executive Committee formed in accordance to the decision of the majority of all students. For this reason, the Annual Election has been held in every September or October since establishment. In the election every student can vote for the running cabinet that he believes to be the most suitable; the cabinet which receives the greatest number of votes will form the Executive Board in the school year. The source of power of the Council originates solely from the consent of students themselves.

The Student Council has always been working for students on such a wide and diversified range of issues that no other organizations in the school can possibly take up its role. With your valuable opinions, our Student Council will never cease to improve to make itself truly a Council of the students, by the students and for the students.

Our mission is to realize your expectation: we reported classroom damages, organized various festival celebrations, held pre-examination tutorial classes, and the list goes on... (For more details, please refer to the "News" page) We believe that through organizing these activities, we can make some contribution to the well-beings of all our schoolmates as well as beautify the school lives of you all.

Apart from being a bridge between you and DBS, Student Council is also working hard to maintain strong bonding with various schools in Hong Kong, for we realize the importance of social networking for the personal growths of teenagers. In order to achieve this, a considerable quantity of joint-school functions will be organized. In February, we have Valentine's Ball; in May, we have Joint-School oral practice; in June, we have our annual V-Show. Those exhilarating and glamorous activities will surely add excitements and colorful elements to your study in DBS.
